Peer Review Process

The Global Journal of Surgery and Surgical Research is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity, transparency, and accuracy. The peer review process ensures that all submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous expert evaluation before publication.

1. Initial Submission and Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the editorial office conducts a preliminary review to ensure compliance with journal standards.

• Completeness: Verification of required sections (title page, abstract, references, etc.).
• Ethical Standards: Confirmation of patient consent and ethical approval.
• Plagiarism Check: Screening using plagiarism detection software.

Manuscripts not meeting these criteria may be returned for correction before peer review.

2. Assignment to Associate Editor

Eligible manuscripts are assigned to an Associate Editor with relevant expertise.

• Reject: If outside scope or lacking scientific merit.
• Proceed to Peer Review: If suitable for expert evaluation.

3. Selection of Reviewers

The journal follows a double-blind peer review process.

• At least two independent reviewers are assigned.
• Expertise: Reviewers must have subject-area knowledge.
• Independence: No conflicts of interest permitted.

Reviewers recommend one of the following:

5. Editorial Decision

The Associate Editor reviews all reports and makes a recommendation. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

6. Revision and Resubmission

• Authors must submit a detailed response to reviewers.
• Revised manuscripts may undergo additional review.
• Deadlines are provided for timely resubmission.

7. Final Decision

• Accept

8. Post-Acceptance

Accepted manuscripts proceed to production. Authors review proofs for final corrections prior to publication.

9. Publication

Articles are published online under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), ensuring open access worldwide.

10. Confidentiality and Ethics

• Confidentiality: Manuscripts must not be shared outside the review process.
• Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose conflicts before accepting review assignments.
